Full ThrottleLatest Happenings At Misbehavin-RCBehind The Scenes Well there's a lot going on behind the scenes part of which I'll discuss, but a much bigger announcement may be revealed in a few weeks if all goes well. First of all, you'll probably notice the site now has a banner at the bottom of each page. I'm not wanting to overpower the site with several ads on each page like some sites. However, I feel that a single ad at the bottom of the site doesn't take away from the site, and it helps bring site visitors closer together with some companies that I feel offer great products and customer service. If you haven't checked out some of these companies, I encourage you to take a look at what they have to offer. Next on the list is Misbehavin' RC stickers. This is an item that I have had several e-mails about, and I'm currently giving serious consideration. The sheet containing the stickers will look similar to the image below. ![]() I have not put all the cost information together yet, but I'm figuring that a donation to the site of around $3.00 will be sufficient to cover the cost of having the stickers produced. If I go forward with this, a PayPal option will be offered for anyone interested. I'll need to have a large quantity ordered at one time, and possibly provide a setup fee as well. What I'm currently trying to do at the moment is gauge the interest in having these made. So if you're interested e-mail me at eric@misbehavin-rc.com, and let me know. If you have contacted me before regarding this, please contact me again so I can accurately judge the interest. Whether or not this project goes forward, will depend upon the response I receive. I have to have enough interest so that I can justify the expenses in having these stickers made.
Regarding Recent Internet Viruses Recently the MyDoom virus starting affecting e-mail accounts and servers across the globe. Before MyDoom was released many other viruses preceded it as well. In recent months it has become more common for a virus to forge it's point of origin, making it seem as if it came from somewhere it did not.
I've recently received several e-mails regarding this, with the sender thinking the virus-borne e-mail came from one of my accounts. However I can assure you, that is not the case. This site, and all e-mail accounts I use, sit behind a firewall. All e-mail, and general traffic, entering and exiting that point is checked and logged before it continues to it's destination. This is the case whether the traffic is from me, or to me.
What is happening is that someone, who is infected with a virus, happens to have a one of my e-mail addresses stored in their address book. When the virus is active on their machine it randomly flips through their address book and uses an e-mail address it finds in the "Reply" and/or "From" fields. Then it chooses another e-mail address at random to be the "To" address. When this happens, it appears as if the e-mail comes from somewhere it really did not.
There are several steps you should take to protect yourself from being infected with a virus. First, never open any e-mail unless you know the sender. Secondly subject lines with poor grammar or incorrect spelling should be suspected as possibly being a virus. In addition to this, make sure you are running a virus scanner on your PC, and make sure the virus definitions are current. Virus definitions change several times a week, sometimes even on a daily basis. If you only update your definitions once a month, once a year, or never, you are no better off than someone who has no virus protection at all.
For more information regarding virus scanners and utilities check out common anti-virus vendors such as Panda Software and Symantec. Latest Updates This update is a little smaller that the past few, but I had several things I wanted to go ahead and place on the site. The first couple updates involve some more product reviews. The first is a review for the Hudy 9 piece Basic Toolset. If you're looking to stock your toolbox with some quality tools, this is a review you definitely want to check out. Speaking of tools, you'll need a good set if you plan on checking out the Hexcrews Hex Head Conversion Kit in my other review. Hex heads are the way to go when it comes to RC fasteners, and Hexcrews is a driving force in the industry. Moving on to new tech articles, you'll see there are a couple of revisions in this update. I've added more information to both the battery section, and the sections on receiver packs. There's also a new article on replacing the T-Maxx throttle bellcrank bushings with bearings, which will provide smoother operation. The Reader's Rides section has a couple of new additions, and the Garage section which details the Misbehavin' RC lineup has been updated as well. So despite the fact that this update is a little skinner than the past few, there's still quite a bit of information to be absorbed. With all of that being said, I'm through with this issue of Full Throttle. It's time to get outside and stir up some dust. See you guys in the next update!!!
Until next time, keep on bashin'!!!
