Eric's Stampede

This is my Stampede. I actually didn't intend on ending up with a Stampede, but after buying my son one for his birthday I knew I had to have one. We had an insane amount of fun with his and I knew two would be even better. I bought mine as a kit about a month and a half after Zac got his. I've actually got three bodies for it although two are painted exactly the same due to a lack of creative inspiration at the time. Both of those are stock Traxxas bodies. My third body was in the making for a long time. The first Excursion body I painted quickly turned into a mess, as I couldn't get the effect I wanted. It was then that I decided to invest in an airbrush. Another Excursion body was picked up and my design was changed to better reflect what I could accomplish with an airbrush. I call the design "Neon Quake".

Even with the airbrush the design didn't turn out quite like I meant it to. I learned an important lesson about Faskolor water based paints. It's very important that dark colors are not applied over lighter colors. Before, when I used lacquer based spray cans, this didn't seem to matter. However with the Faskolor paints the darker purple subdued the the neon yellow and green when sprayed behind it. I think the end result is still very nice, but the fluorescent colors are much more subdued that I had originally intended. So don't judge me too harshly, it was my first attempt at airbrushing!!!

The body itself is designed for a E-MAXX or a T-MAXX, but I think the Excursion body fits very well on the Stampede. Anyone not running an wheelie bar on the back of their Stampede, may find there is too much of a gap between the chassis and rear of the body. However with the bar mounted, I think the body looks as if it was made for the Stampede.
