Mary's Stampede

My wife's Stampede began it's life as an RTR. We bought it off of ebay. By the time we purchased one for her I felt comfortable enough in my knowledge to buy a used Stampede. We got very lucky and got a sweet deal on it. When it arrived it was apparent had never spent any significant time off-road. There was no scuff marks on the truck, nor was any dirt to be found hiding in the cracks that elude even the best detailer. In addition to the truck being in pristine condition, and having all the stock equipment and electronics, she also received the following: 3 sets of RPM Clawz rims, 4 masher tires, Rooster speed control, ESP wheelie bar, ESP Front bumper, ESP Nerf bars, RPM Bearing Carriers and bearings, Off Road lighting kit, Airtronics Metal Geared Servo, and a Trinity Speed Gems 2 Sapphire motor. It also came with 2 Radio Shack batteries that provide very little punch. That reaffirms the fact, for me at least, that Radio Shack packs are junk. All of this was bought for right at $175. The truck was geared way too high, in my opinion, which supports the fact I think it was a "pavement only" truck. I re-geared it from 22/87 to 15/87 to provide a better balance of power and to prevent the motor from getting too toasty when being driven off-road. The first set of pictures are the ones that were posted on the ebay auction.

Mary's second body is Bulldozer of "Monster Jam" fame. I guess it's only fitting that if Zac used Grave Digger at one time we needed to have a replica of a fierce rival. This body was my second attempt at airbrushing and was rather simple as it consisted of mainly highlighting certain areas of the truck with a dark brown paint. I deviated slightly from the body kit and instead of using the stick-on eyebrows, I painted them. The body is sitting up a little higher than stock, as she wanted more of a "monster truck look" and the ability to change the battery from underneath without having to remove the body itself.

This body is designed for a E-Maxx or a T-Maxx, but I think it fits very well on the Stampede. Anyone not running an wheelie bar on the back of their Stampede, may find there is too much of a "gap" between the chassis and rear of the body. However with the bar mounted, I think the body looks as if it was made for the Stampede.
