Painted Bodies

Traxxas With Fluorescent Design

This body was painted to replace my aging biohazard-themed body for my Revo. Since this truck is used primarily for racing now, I wanted to come up with something that stood out and looked racy on the track. So I based this design upon some ideas I found on the internet, and then altered them to suit my tastes and color desires. For the body, I opted for a Crowd Pleazer 2.0. The Crowd Pleazer 2.0 is also a good choice for racing, which is another duty that my Revo will be pulling. The Crowd Pleazer 2.0 is based on Pro-Line's fits Crowd Pleazer body, but designed specifically with the Traxxas Revo in mind.

You can download the basic design from my Masks and Templates Section.

I used the following colors with this body.

I brushed on several coats of liquid masking and, after transferring the design to the front of the body, I then cut the design out. I also cut the bed area of the body so I could give it a carbon-fiber look, as well as cutting the roll bar out in the liquid masking. As I planned to plaint the carbon fiber rear end first, I went ahead and pulled that portion of the liquid masking off once it was cut.

Using some toolbox matting cut so that it fit the area I wished to paint. I started by spraying several coats of Faspearl Charcoal. Then I removed the matting and sprayed a light coat of Faspearl silver over the unpainted squares, followed by Fasblack as a backing. I also painted the black side windows at this time.

The next order of business was the rollbar. I removed the liquid masking from this area, and then sprayed it with silver. Then I removed the liquid masking for the main part of the body, without the design, and used the Fasescent Blue. I then backed everything up to this point in white.

At this stage, I removed the liquid masking fro the design work, and then painted the Fasfluorescent Orange found on the rearward portions of the design. I then filled in the design with Fasfluorescent Yellow. The last item of business was to remove the extreme front section, paint it white and back the entire paint job with white as well.

With the design painting out of the way, I then backed the entire job with clear lacquer to protect the paint from water and nitro fuel. Then I removed the window masking and cut my body post holes and cooling holes.

To compliment the paint job, I dyed a set of 40 Series Wabash wheels and the rear wing using some Rit Royal Blue Dye and the method shown here.
