Velcro Battery StrapIt wasn't long after I started running my Stampede that I quickly tired of removing the plastic battery clamp. I even used some Easy Pull Body Clips on the factory battery clamp but I still longed for a better way. So I looked into using velcro. Many people have used velcro in one fashion or another to hold batteries and other various things down in their RC vehicles. Most of the examples I saw used a big piece of velcro running all the way around the chassis. I didn't care for that approach, I wanted something a little more integrated. For this project it took me a few wire ties and some sew-on velcro. Make sure you use sew-on velcro as the stick on form of velcro isn't flexible enough and will just attract dirt when the plastic starts to peel away and expose the "sticky-side" I drilled two holes on each side of the chassis, right beside of each other. They should be closer together than the width of the velcro you use. The drill bit should be just big enough that you can pass the wire tie through the hole that is made by it. Once you drill the holes on both sides, cut some small slits on the velcro so that you can run the wire ties through it and strap one strip of velcro to each side. I also cut a small slit in the end of the top piece of velcro and used an Easy Pull Body Clip on it. This made it easier to unfasten the velcro. If you plan on doing a lot of jumping or rough driving a second strap can be added towards the rear of the Stampede to help further secure the battery.
