Centering the Throttle Servo

Centering the throttle servo on the Revo seems to provide difficulty for those who haven’t adjusted it before. The trick is to make sure the servo horn is perpendicular to the servo, when the servo is centered. So first turn on the radio and receiver, and then center the servo. Remove and readjust the horn as necessary. Then, while the servo is centered, make sure there is a small gap between the servo horn and the linkage collar. Adjust as necessary. This ensures that the servo isn’t opening the carburetor any when the truck should be at an idling position.

Once the servo is adjusted, reset the brakes and carburetor “fully open” positions using the end point adjustments on your radio if you have them. For the brakes, you can also use the gray thumbwheel on the braking linkage.

There are some things to remember regarding the servo and linkage assembly. Never use the trim knob to adjust the idle. To adjust the idle, use the idle screw. Otherwise, the servo will be holding the idle, and when you hit the brakes, the truck will stall. Also, remember that when using aftermarket servos, you may need to use the Traxxas Aftermarket Servo Horn Set. Finally, anytime you have adjusted the linkage or throttle trim on the Revo you must reset the OptiDrive system if it’s in use. The manual covers this procedure, and it’s also covered via the Traxxas resource pages as well.
