Header Removal

It seems that removing the stock header is a frustration for many, even though in reality it shouldn’t be. You just need to use the right tool, and go about it the correct way. If you do header removal is a snap, even with the motor still mounted on the Revo’s chassis.

Let’s cover the proper tool first. You want to use a 2.5mm ball end hex wrench/driver. Until normal circumstances I encourage everyone to avoid ball end drivers, as they increase the likelihood of you stripping the screws head if you aren’t careful. However, there are exceptions to this rule, and the header is one of these. Below is an example of a ball end driver. Traxxas includes a ball end hex wrench with the Revo which will work, but a good ball end driver makes this procedure even easier than with the L-wrench. This is especially true if the engine is still on the chassis.

The first screw you’ll want to tackle is the one that’s the more easily accessible. Using a hex driver, remove it completely. If the engine has been removed from the chassis, this can be accomplished by a standard hex driver instead of the ball end.

Now tackle the other screw. As it starts to come out, slide the header back with it. Soon the header is out of the way, and you can tackle whatever task to needed to.

Reinstalling the header is just as easy, all you need to do is to reverse the steps above.
