Motor MountingA common problem that plagues the Rustler owner, and many others who have plastic transmission housings, is that the motor screws make indentions in the housing over time. As the indentions get worse they can lead to stripped spur gears, as they can cause the motor screws to slide when the motor is under load. Note that while this article and pictures are of an Electric Stampede, this will work for an Electric Rustler as the two run the same transmission housing.
Notice the indentions around my lower motor screw hole.
 A simple fix for this is to use a washer under the screw, and the problem should not bother you again.
 Another solution is to use the motor mount for the Tamiya TA03. However with some motors, such as the stock Stinger motor, the length of the motor collar will prevent the TA03 plate from being used without some modifications to the plate. Here's the TA03 plate alone...

 Unfortunately the TA03 plate mentioned above has been discontinued. However there is an alternate Tamiya TA03 plate that will work with some minor cutting of excess material. You can also try this modification. |
