Shock Savers

Crescenzi Racing Shock Savers

Testing and Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a colorful way to make your Maxx stand out, the Crescenzi shock savers are a definite way to accomplish this. With the multitude of colors to choose from it isn't hard at all to compliment your truck with an appropriately colored set of shock savers. However these shock savers have some benefits that may be initially overlooked in the areas of shock maintenance.

When I first installed my Crescenzi shock savers, I was very curious as to how well they would help prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering into the shock oil. So when installing the shock savers, I also refilled the shocks with fresh shock oil, knowing that it would enable me to easily see how dirty the new shock oil became after running with the shock savers installed. After several bashing sessions spread out over nearly two months I opened up several of the shocks to examine the shock oil. While the oil was slightly discolored, it was nothing like it had been before, and after running in some of the dirt and dust that I have, I feel that the shock savers played a huge role in keeping the shock oil in good condition.

Less dirt and dust getting into the oil also means that less dirt and dust even made it to the point of getting near the o-rings seals on the shocks themselves. This means that rebuild intervals will be increased, since the o-rings should last longer. Very little dust and dirt was found inside the shock saver, where I normally see a huge caked on batch of dirt around the area the shock shaft enters the shock body. This lessened wear alone justifies the cost of the shock savers in my opinion.

The Crescenzi shock savers are priced around $22 a set for the Maxx. Considering the improvement in looks and shock maintenance, it's a very reasonably priced improvement.
