Extreme Standz Ps Stand

Testing and Final Thoughts

I have a lot of fun painting bodies as it adds to the RC experience. However one of the things that can be difficult at times is holding the body while I'm trying to paint it. Evidently Extreme Standz has taken notice of how difficult this can be at times and came up with a solution.

The Ps stand they offer works well. It's adjustable and will hold about any body you'd ever want to paint, provided we're excluding large 1/5 and 1/6 scale bodies. The adjustability has certainly come in handy, as I've painted a 1/18, 1/10, and 1/8 scale bodies on it. The rubber tipped posts have worked well and securely held the body on each of those. The fact the stand hold the body works well when it comes to airbrushing finer details as well. Having the body in the stand frees up both my hands, in the event I need to hold a template or sheet of paper to mask an area while I'm painting with the other.

Despite how well it works, I see one area that could be improved somewhat. It's minor, and can easy be solved, but I thought I would point it out as I will be looking at altering my stand to accommodate this features. While the stand has no problem with the smaller body, larger 1/10 and 1/8 bodies that are made of thicker lexan tend to be heavy. At some angles, this can made the stand top-heavy. The steel upper frame rods add to this top-heavy characteristic as well. A steel plate, or lead weight, attached to the underside of the stand's base would easily counteract this and make the stand much more stable overall. It's a minor issue though, and certainly wouldn't affect my decision regarding purchasing a stand.

I really like this stand, and it's proven itself to be very useful in helping me keep my fleet equipped with painted bodies. I find that the price is very reasonable as well, as the stand comes in at just under $40. Considering the overall materials used here, I feel as if that's a very far price for the stand. With a little more weight on the base, it would be absolutely perfect!
