Fullforce RC Maxx Lower BracesTesting and Final Thoughts
The included carbon-fiber skid plate has also proven to be very durable as well. Carbon-fiber is much stronger than most people realize, and always seems to add a unique look to any ride that it's placed on. The skid plate helps to protect the lower braces from being scratched, while providing some welcome protection for the transmission area of the Maxx. It also ties the lower chassis braces together, and that adds additional strength to the whole underside of the chassis. This is easily noticed once it's installed, as even aluminum braces alone can exhibit some flex in the middle under certain circumstances. I didn't go lightly when punishing these braces, and they came through with flying colors. Since the biggest concern addressed by these braces was durability and chassis flex, some daredevil jumping was in order. For that, I hit a local RC park and spent some time in the mountain bike area. I spent a lot of time jumping one hill in particular, in fact my bashing area can be seen in my T-Maxx Break-in and Hobby Park video. At first I jumped the hill in both directions and the braces held up flawlessly. I even started hitting the jump at an angle, so that the truck would come back down to ground level instead of landing on top of the hill. This provided a total jump height of more than 6 foot, and again the Fullforce braces didn't even seem to break a sweat. I did manage to strip one spur gear, but it was due to me landing the truck with a heavy trigger finger and a tightened slipper clutch. I couldn't see any signs of chassis flex at all. Not only did the braces themselves prove to be strong, but the 7075 aluminum seems to resist scratching much better than other lesser aluminum braces I've seen. Even after all the hard landings and tumbles, the braces still looked like new. An outstanding testament to the durability of the high grade aluminum used for the braces themselves. If you are looking to eliminate chassis flex and improve the durability of your truck, then these braces are definitely one of the best options available. The combination of durability and lightweight design gives you the best of both worlds. It also proves that lightweight doesn't always mean weak. With a price around $60, you'll also find that they are very affordable as well.
