SkidMaxx
TTRS

Impact Performance Products SkidMaxx

Installation

The SkidMaxx, for the most part, is a simple bolt on procedure. However the stock skid plates will need some trimming. So a Dremel or small saw will come in handy. I had a couple of stock skid plates that were cracked along the lines you would cut them for the SkidMaxx. That was a big help, as it meant I wouldn't have to cut up a set of good skid plates for this installation.

The first thing you'll need to do is to trim the stock skid plates and remove some of the screws that secure it in place. Below is a picture detailing this on the rear of a T-Maxx. You can see where I've trimmed the stock skid plate, and removed the screws securing it to the rear bulkheads. I've also removed two of the screws that connect the skid plate to the chassis brace.

You'll need to do the same for the front skid plate as well. Remove the exact same screws and trim the skid plate in the same manner as the rear. Make sure, on the front, that you leave the screws that secure the steering bellcrank intact.

Once you removed the screws and trimmed the skid plates, you'll need to install the supplied white nylon bumper braces. They mount between the lower bumper brace arms and the bulkhead as shown below.

The last step to making your Maxx ready for the IPP SkidMaxx, is to remove the upper bumper screws for for both the front and rear bumpers.

Your truck should now look like the image below, ready to have the SkidMaxx installed. When placing the SkidMaxx onto the bottom of the truck, notice that one end has a slight angle to it. This end is designed to be placed on the front of your Maxx.

Now using the supplied 3x16 mm countersunk screws, secure the SkidMaxx to the front of your Maxx as shown below. You'll need to use a 2.0 mm hex wrench to tighten the screws down. Also notice the transmission screw access holes, I mentioned earlier, marked in the picture as well. A 3x10 mm countersunk screw is to be used on each side of the transmission screw access holes to secure the SkidMaxx to the chassis braces at these points.

Next you'll use more of the 3x16 mm countersunk screws to secure the rear portion of the SkidMaxx to the rear of your Maxx.

For the last step, you'll focus on the ends of the SkidMaxx. Using four of the 3x6 mm countersunk screws, attach the SkidMaxx to the nylon bumper braces. Then use a supplied 2.0 mm hex wrench, on the 3x16mm button head machine screws, to secure the end of the SkidMaxx to the bumper. You'll do the same for the opposite end of the truck.

Once you've tightened down all the screws, you're ready for some serious bashing.
