RC Raven Maxx Bumpers

Testing and Final Thoughts

The RC Raven bumpers have proven themselves to be an extremely tough replacement for the stock plastic pieces. They far surpass the strength of the stock bumpers obviously, yet they still continue to provide their great looks even after serious abuse. That's something that just not provided by the painted stock plastic pieces.

These bumpers were a snap to install and look great. In addition to that, the slotted versions of RC Raven's bumpers, make it easier to access the shock tower screws than the stock bumpers do. A screwdriver can easily be slid inside the bumper slot, providing a much easier way to remove the shock tower screws. Normally, to get a good bite on the lower shock tower screws, you have to remove the bumper.

Between the top grade aluminum used, and the number of available finishes you can get these bumpers in, you really get a lot for the small amount of money spent on these bumpers. I think the one thing I like most about these bumpers is the fact they are meant to be used with the stock plastic bumper mounts. Even though you should flatten the fronts of the mount, when used with these bumpers, I still think the stock bumper mounts are still the best mounting solution that can be used on the Maxx.

Too many times I see people replacing the bumper mounts with aluminum mounts, and it just doesn't make any sense to do so. The mounts are meant to flex and absorb an impact, aluminum mounts will not flex. If you remove the ability of the bumper mount to flex, all the force will be transferred to the next weakest component in the chain. This is usually the bulkhead.

In conclusion I can say, without a doubt, that these bumpers are a fantastic replacement for the stock pieces. I've been very impressed with the durability of these bumpers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to replace the stock ones for something more durable and flashy. In addition to that, they're very reasonably priced as well.
