RD Logics Traxxas 2.5 Curved Pipe

Introduction

The RD Logics one piece curved pipe for the Traxxas 2.5 is a simply incredible looking aftermarket pipe. It comes with everything needed to replace the existing pipe and header, and once finished you'll no longer have to cut holes in the sides of your truck body as the new pipe sends the exhaust through the chassis and underneath the truck. This is performed by the pipe utilizing an existing cutout in the stock chassis.

Replacing the pipe is a simple task and the parts fit onto the motor very well. Even though you must remove the motor to install the pipe all of the components fit very well into their respective mounting locations. However one thing I've found, is that due to the header, the front-rear shock will no longer be allowed to be installed in the innermost position. This is caused by a clearance issue. The other two mounting positions are able to be used without any problem, and during the installation portion of the article I'll illustrate this a little more.

For the weight conscious among you the RD Logics pipe weighs in at 2.9 oz. The stock pipe weighs 1.5 oz, which is a difference of 1.4 oz. Despite the fact that the RD Logics pipe weighs double what the stock pipe does, the performance more than offsets any weight that's added.

The pipe is attached to the header by springs that attach to flanges on both parts. I really like this setup as opposed to the stock configuration, as zip ties around a silicone coupler doesn't hold as well as the springs and flanges do. So you'll be much less likely to have the pipe slip out of the coupler during a bad crash.
