RD Logics T-Maxx 2.5 CVD'sLongterm Follow-upI thought that given a few things concerning the RD Logics CVD's had surfaced, it would be appropriate to write a follow-up to the original review of their CVD's. Since the original review I have had one small part to break. This would be the cross pin, and it's only happened once. This was also the same CVD that I disassembled for the photo shoot of the original review. In my opinion, what happened was that the grub screw that secures the cross pin was tightened down too much, and it placed stress on the cross pin when the truck was being driven. No other axle or driveshaft has exhibited this part failing. Obviously any part can possibly fail over time, and I'm not saying that the pin will never break. However, I've found that when tearing down the units for maintenance, or when replacing a part, you are better off to tighten the grub screw against the cross pin and then back it off a slight amount. This provides a very small gap between the grub screw and the pin. It also helps prevent any sudden shock the axle would undergo from being transferred to the cross pin. The second item that I should mention, is the fact that I've enoticed some occasions where these parts are not listed on the RD Logics site. I'm assuming that if they are unavailable for an extended period of time, they pull them off the site. However this should not be a major concern, as their parts were exactly identical to the ones offered by Dynamite. So if you need replacement parts, or you have problems finding the RD Logics kits themselves, you can find them at replacement silicone boots, and hardware such as the pin I replaced, at Horizon Hobby as well. I still stand behind the rating I initially gave these parts. I also feel that the RD Logics/Dynamite CVD's are an excellent CVD-type solution for the Maxx.
