SPI Racing American WheelsTesting and Final Thoughts
The wheel and tire combination made a huge difference overall, giving me lots of traction throughout the corners. That offset change helped tremendously, adding nearly 2.5 inches of overall width to the truck. The result was a great deal more stability in the corners, and a truck that felt more sure-footed over the jumps. Cornering speeds went up dramatically, as I was able to enter and exit the corner several MPH quicker than with the stock narrowed stance. Another thing I noticed, in changing wheels and tires back and forth for testing, was how well machined the hex on the back of the wheel was. It fit the plastic adapter perfectly, eliminating slop while not being overly tight when it came time to switch back to the stock wheels. This is a perfect example of the craftsmanship used on these wheels. SPI Racing has done an excellent job with the production of their aluminum wheels. If you don’t care for the design I used for the review, stop by their site and check out their full lineup. It is one of the most extensive lines I’ve seen, and you’re sure to find something that suits your tastes. In addition to the large lineup of choice and incredible craftsmanship SPI provides, you’ll be happy to know that they offer a replacement program for their wheels as well. While it doesn’t cover extreme abuse, it will cover damage that occurs under normal conditions. Wheel replacement is free, you just provide the shipping costs. You can’t beat that, and you simply can’t beat these wheels!

I installed these wheels onto a Savage X, and let me tell you, they look sweet! While SPI specifies that their wheels are intended for racing, and not hard-core bashing, these things have shown themselves to be just as tough as they look too! I took the SPI Racing wheel equipped Savage to the local track on several occasions. At the track, the SPI Racing American wheels showed me exactly how well they worked.
