Swami RC Screw KitTesting and Final Thoughts
Not only are these screws cool looking, but they use a hex head design. I prefer the hex head approach to a Phillips head any time I've given an option. It's a much more durable approach, and I find it's much easier to work with a hex head screw than a Phillips head. Let me also mention a couple of things regarding this screw kit to possibly save you some headache later. First of all keep in mind this is a metric screw kit, so make sure you are using metric hex wrenches or drivers. Standard-size drivers will appear to fit, but will strip the screw heads very easily, as aluminum is less durable than steel. As long as you are using the proper sized metric tool, you should have no problems. Also keep in mind that aluminum screws are best used when threaded into plastic parts. While this is normally more of a concern for a truck like the Maxx, which has large aftermarket support, it can also still apply to the Stampede or the Rustler in some areas. The reasoning behind this is that during a crash something will give. Steel screws will normally bend, but lighter aluminum screws tend to break off if they are screwed into aluminum parts. When that happens you have two choices. You can replace the part or try to remove the broken part of the screw. Aluminum parts are not cheap to replace, and trying to remove a broken screw is not very much fun. The Swami RC screw kit was well thought out and documented. If you're looking to buy an upgrade for your truck, both the looks and the lighter weight of this can be very appealing. The fact that the kit replaces the screws with hex heads, as opposed to Phillips head, makes it a very worthwhile option to consider as well. Even if you're not looking for a screw kit as an upgrade, a Swami RC screw kit in your Pit Box will provide you plenty of spare screws to fall back on should something ever need to be replaced.
