Wheelie Bar

Swami RC Wheelie Bar

Introduction

On many upgraded RC trucks, wheelie bars are practically mandatory. The Stampede is no exception, as wheelies come very easy with just minor modifications. The transmission housing can suffer damage and eventually be ground down unless there's something to protect it. Many people fabricate their own wheelie bar, or sometimes they just use a protective aluminum plate.

The wheelie bar offered by Swami RC is one solid, hardcore upgrade component. Out of the box, I was surprised at the rugged construction of this item. The version I received is bigger than their standard wheelie bar, and is also meant to cover the front of the rear brace to provide added protection while bashing.

The wheelie bar comes fully assembled and ready to bolt into place, so it's a very easy upgrade. If the time comes and you need a new set of wheels due to them being worn out or broken, you can simply pick up another set of airplane wheels from the LHS as they are a standard airplane wheel. You will need to drill the holes out to accept the larger hardware, but that's a simple chore. Alternatively you can purchase replacement wheels from Swami RC.

One of the biggest advantages of this wheelie bar over other ones currently on the market, is the fact it doesn't have an actual bend on the rear of the plate. Many other manufacturers actually bend the plate to develop the area to mount the bar onto, which coupled with thinner and weaker aluminum, only serves to weaken the bar further. The Swami Bar has a curved radius bend using 1/8 inch 6061 T6 aluminum. With an arc, as opposed to an actual bend, and the extremely strong aluminum, you'd have to use hardened steel to have a stronger wheelie bar.
